Every theme restyles the same document with its own colours, type and spacing, and fonts load from Google Fonts only for the theme currently in use.

How themes work

A theme is a single CSS file that sets custom properties on the document: colours, fonts and spacing. The base stylesheet handles every element the same way in every theme, so headings, lists, tables and code blocks all come from the same rules. In the editor, switching themes swaps that CSS file live, with no page reload. Dark themes print as dark text on a white page rather than the on-screen dark background.
