markdown.style is a static site. Nothing you paste or write is sent to a server; rendering, theming and exporting happen in your browser.

What this site does with your document

Rendering, theming and exporting all happen in JavaScript in your browser. Your document text and the theme you choose are never uploaded to a server, and no part of your document is transmitted anywhere by this site.

What is stored on your device

The editor keeps your current document text and chosen theme in your browser's localStorage, under one key, so they survive a reload. Reset clears that saved copy, restores the sample document, and switches back to the default theme. Clearing your browser's site data also clears it. None of this ever leaves your device.

Requests the site makes

Each theme loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, while it is in use. Opening the theme panel loads every theme's fonts at once. Those requests reach Google's servers and carry your IP address and browser details, as any font request does; see Google'sprivacy policy.

Loading the site itself requests its own HTML, CSS and JavaScript files. The server that delivers those files may keep standard access logs, such as your IP address, the time and the page requested, as web hosts commonly do.

If your document embeds an image from another site, or you follow a link in it, your browser requests that address directly, as it would on any web page. That request goes to the other site, not to markdown.style.

Cookies and tracking

markdown.style uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets Google's analytics cookies and sends Google your IP address, browser details and the pages you open, never your document or anything typed into the editor; see Google's privacy policy. There are no accounts and no advertising.
